About the event
Bill and Valerie Swetlishoff have been doing service and repairs for 22 years in and around the West Kootenays and now Creston as well. We do repairs for two local sewing studios/fabric shops, a local sewing machine dealer, and also do service and repairs for local industrial sewing machine users, as well as local schools throughout the West Kootenays.
The course touches on several aspects of sewing machine maintenance, from selecting and using the correct machine needles, to stripping the machine down to identify, clean and lubricate key moving parts and reducing lint build up. Bill will demonstrate on what maintenance issues to look for, and how to correct them, as well as putting the machines back together, without spare parts! The last hour of the repair session will cover two other important topics about addressing tension issues and ergonomics when using the sewing machine or serger.
